My friends and I are really big fans of 1XTRA. As soon as I realised I couldn’t make it to this this year’s event in Liverpool, I had to ask my good pal, Scola Dondo to see what’s up.
I’ve been watching #1xtralive on TV for years, promising myself that one year I would go and this year was the year! The line up was just too good to miss so hopped on a train all the way from Sussex to Liverpool.
The night started off with a bang as Craig David opened the show. I’ll admit I’m not one to go out of my way to listen to his music but I found myself singing along to every single song, old and new. He’s such a classic and I’ve grown up listening to him on my radio. I have to say he was one of the best of the night.
The next performance that had me blown away has to be Wretch 32. I first fell in love with his music when he released his album ‘Black and White’. It seems he got all the staging budget because he had everything from laser lights to fireworks. It was bloody brilliant!
We were also lucky enough to enjoy Wicked Skengman AKA #Problem AKA Stormzy’s last performance of 2016. His personality radiated on stage, he truly is a born performer. He performed some old favourites such as Know Me From and Shut Up but he also blessed us with some new music to skank out to including a touching song for his mum. All in all, it was a great night with a brilliant line up, we can’t wait to see what #1xtralive 2017 will bring.
